Ūkaipō
Original painting
Ūkaipō - 'source of sustenance', 'origin'
25.4cm x 25.4cm x 3.5cm (HxWxD)
Acrylic on stretched canvas
This work speaks to a deep sense of origin, belonging, and nourishment. It refers to the place or source that nurtures and sustains us - physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
Ūkaipō is deeply tied to ancestors, the land, and the nurturing role of motherhood, with roots that extend to Papatūānuku, our earth mother. It connects closely with whakapapa (genealogy) and the intergenerational bonds that shape who we are.
Comes ready to hang with painted edges (unframed). Signed front and back and sealed with a UV satin varnish.
Also available as a limited edition print in various sizes.
